Warwick Buildings - Our 'Lincoln' Automated Electric Cantilever Sliding Gate

The Secure21 team were contacted by Warwick Buildings to look at an existing automatic gate installation that had not been fitted by Secure21.

On some occasions, if the conditions are met, we are willing to assess automatic gate issues which have not been installed by our trained team.

Warwick Buildings are established builders specialising in crafting reliable and functional garages, enchanting garden rooms, sophisticated garden offices, and more. Their show site offers their customers the opportunity to see their craftsmanship first hand, and with a wide range of buildings on site, ensuring the utmost security and control is crucial.

The challenge

Our team went out to Warwick Buildings with the initial intention of troubleshooting their existing gate automation malfunction; we replaced the motor, and the gate was functional once more. However, after an incident with a lorry the entire gate was destroyed and required a rebuild and installation, which Warwick Buildings were keen for us to take on.

We recommended, to avoid any future issues, that installing a traffic light system to both sides of the gate would provide suitable warning of when it was safe to pass through the gate. People ‘jumping the gate’ is a common problem we see with automatic gates, and can be costly for businesses, so we will always recommend solutions to avoid such problems and ensure a safe experience for anyone passing through.

Installation

THE SOLUTION

Warwick Buildings trusted our expertise and knowledge of their site to re-design and create their gate. We eagerly got on the job, designing, and fabricating a cantilever sliding gate to suit the needs of the site. Once the gate was fabricated, we moved on site to conduct the groundworks, installing six posts, connecting to the existing ground-loop (for opening and closing the gates) and wiring two pairs of safety sensors, as well as safety edges to avoid any entrapments. With any installation, we want to ensure minimal disruption to business or surrounding grounds, so we take great care at this stage.

To finish, we installed the gates with a traffic light system to give a clear indication of when to pass through and when to not pass through the gate. Warwick Building had an existing keypad, which we programmed with the gate to allow entry and exit to their site.

“Secure 21 have been very helpful with our electric gate.  They came out and quoted to repair our existing gate and carried out the repair very quickly.  Secure 21 started making the new gate, which has now been fitted and looks great.  I would recommend Secure 21 for new gates and replacing or repairing existing gates, as they have a good response and standard of work.”

Conclusion

Warwick Buildings were delighted with the result, as were we. As part of our handover process, all our clients receive a handover pack which details the installation, hazards of automated gates, instructions on manual operations, how to operate the gates, declaration of conformity and CA mark, risk assessment of gate and force readings. This gives our clients all the required information they need to safely manage their gates.

We now conduct 6-monthly servicing, as per Gate Safe legislation on commercial properties, to ensure the smooth and safe running of their automated gates. Warwick Buildings now have confidence in the security and control of access to their site.
