Re-automation of Dual Swing Gates for a Domestic Property

Our client needed to upgrade the automation of their existing dual swing gates, which had become unreliable due to aging underground hydraulic motors.

Additionally, the gate post had shifted out of alignment over time, affecting the smooth operation of the gates. Secure21 LTD was approached to modernize the automation system, restore the gates' functionality, and improve access control while allowing for easy exit from the property.

(The Galvanising spray you can see in the photos is for a protective covering, We wouldn't usually leave the gates unpainted but our client was due to have them fully repainted soon after installation.)

Powder coating existing gates is also something we can arrange.

The challenge

The main challenge was to replace the outdated hydraulic motors with a more reliable automation system that would fit the existing underground setup. The misaligned gate post also required correction to ensure proper gate movement and alignment. Furthermore, our client sought a modern access control solution that allowed for secure remote management of the gates, as well as a system that could facilitate convenient, automatic exit from the property.

Installation

The installation process began with removing the old hydraulic motors and preparing the underground cavities for the new brushless automation system. The brushless motors were then fitted and securely mounted, providing powerful yet quiet operation for the dual swing gates. The existing gate post was straightened and stabilized to ensure correct gate alignment and functionality. The GSM intercom was installed and integrated with the gate control system, enabling remote access and management via our client’s mobile device. Finally, radar sensors were installed and calibrated to detect approaching vehicles, allowing the gates to open automatically for exiting traffic. The entire system underwent thorough testing to ensure seamless operation and reliable access control.

THE SOLUTION

Secure21 LTD recommended upgrading to brushless underground automation, which would provide more efficient, durable, and maintenance-free operation compared to the old hydraulic system. The new brushless motors would fit seamlessly into the existing underground setup while delivering smoother and quieter performance. To improve access control, a GSM intercom was installed, enabling our client to manage gate access remotely via their mobile phone. For added convenience, radar opening sensors were installed to allow the gates to open automatically when a vehicle approached from inside, ensuring free exit. Additionally, the gate post was straightened and reinforced to restore proper alignment.

Conclusion

The re-automation of the dual swing gates with brushless underground motors significantly improved the reliability and performance of the gate system, while the realignment of the gate post restored smooth operation. The addition of a GSM intercom provided a modern access control solution for remote management, and the radar opening system allowed for effortless vehicle exit. This project demonstrated Secure21 LTD’s ability to deliver customized gate automation solutions that enhance functionality, convenience, and security for our clients.
